Blackhorse Responders is a program that empowers young people aged 16-25. It encourages them to tackle community issues through creative activism. The program is hosted at Blackhorse Workshop in Walthamstow. For a year, I served as a Creative Facilitator for the program. I led weekly workshops that included woodworking, printmaking, photography, videography, and public speaking. Through these activities, I guided a cohort of ten young people in developing their creative skills and voices.
This project was awarded a Silver Award at London Design Awards 2021 in “Better Future – Equity & Inclusion” category.
Below is work created by our Responders through the sessions we facilitated. The video was filmed and edited by Joyce Nicholls and Daisy Gaston.
